Dubai: Two women who reportedly stabbed a man to death who they claimed forced them to have sex with him stood trial on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old Pakistani office worker and her 22-year-old compatriot student denied that each of them premeditated the fatal stabbing of a Bangladeshi worker in his apartment in Naif.
The Public Prosecution charged office worker, N.J., and student, T.R., with using two kitchen knives and repeatedly stabbing the man, M.M., until he died.
Records maintain that they intentionally killed the deceased so they could steal his mobile phone, laptop, two cheques and some cash.
When Presiding Judge Saeed Salem Bin Sarm of the Dubai Court of First Instance confronted the suspects with their charges, they pleaded not guilty and claimed that the stolen items, which were reportedly found in their possession, belonged to them.
When asked if they could afford to hire a lawyer, the women replied that they couldn't and didn't want one anyway.
"An eyewitness reported to the police that the victim was found dead inside his flat in the Naif area," a Dubai police captain testified. "A special police team conducted a thorough investigation and discovered that the suspects had been involved in the alleged murder.
"Police discovered that M.M. was having a sexual relationship with N.J.," he added.
The captain added in his statement that when the women were arrested they confessed during questioning to stabbing the victim during questioning.
